Delicious and Nourishing: A Guide to Making Chicken Soup

Chicken soup, a beloved international comfort food, boasts numerous variations across different countries. This flavorful recipe not only delights the taste buds but also packs a punch of nutrients, making it ideal for those recovering from a cold.

We are going to make delicious Fried Fish together at LANDIYUM.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • Chicken breast: 250 grams (8.8 ounces)
  • Carrots: 2 medium
  • Potatoes: 2 medium
  • Lemon: 1
  • Onion: 1 large
  • Garlic: 1 clove
  • Parsley: 50 grams (1.75 ounces)
  • Salt and black pepper: To taste
  • Turmeric and oil: To taste

Instructions

Step 1:

  1. In a suitable pot, lightly brown the chicken breast without oil.
  2. Add a small amount of oil and turmeric to the chicken, saute briefly.
  3. Pour in 2 cups of boiling water.

  1. Let the chicken simmer in the boiling water for 15 minutes to remove any unwanted odor and partially cook it.
  2. Shred or dice the partially cooked chicken and set it aside.

Tip:

  • To eliminate any lingering unpleasant odor, remove the white foam forming on the water’s surface with a spoon when it starts boiling.(This works great for your chicken soup)

  1. Finely chop the garlic and onion. Saute them in a separate pot with a minimal amount of oil until softened.
  2. Remember, use minimal oil to avoid a greasy soup.

Step 4:

  1. Once the garlic and onion are softened, add some turmeric and saute for another minute to your Chicken Soup.
  2. Incorporate the shredded chicken and saute it with the mixture for a few minutes.

so Step 5:

  1. Pour in 4 cups of boiling water and simmer with the lid on until the chicken cooks completely.
  2. After 30 minutes, chop the carrots into cubes or rings and add them to the soup.

Step 6:

  1. Fifteen minutes after adding the carrots, dice the potatoes and add them to the Chicken Soup.
  2. Important: Don’t add the potatoes with the other ingredients, as they’ll easily mash.

in Step 7:

  1. In the final 15 minutes of cooking, chop the parsley and add it along with salt and black pepper to taste.
  2. Keep the lid off after adding parsley to prevent discoloration.

Step 8:

  1. Once the soup is fully cooked, ladle it into serving bowls and garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices.
  2. You can either squeeze the lemon juice into the soup or serve it separately.

Tips(Chicken Soup)

Thickening Chicken Soup:

  • Traditionally, chicken soup is thin and doesn’t have much broth. If you prefer a thicker consistency, add a handful of chopped or powdered vermicelli with the carrots for a richer broth.

  • The natural turmeric color gives the soup a light yellow hue, which some might find less appealing. For a more vibrant look, saute 1 tablespoon of tomato paste in oil before adding it to the soup.
